Man I've been busy. Like, really busy...
The commission waiting list has never been so full, and I'm incredibly grateful for that! I just wish I could work faster, I don't think I'm used to it.
So sorry to all those who've been kept waiting. I'm trying to work through them with all the care and attention they each deserve. I'm still learning this new pace, which has also been hindered time and time again by technical issues...
So, my laptop is on its last legs.
After months of troubleshooting windows 10 BSODs with microsoft, my tech guru friends, google (of course), and a completely fresh system installation, I've been forced to get another machine after only two and a half years of service. To be fair, I have worked this little laptop hard every day of that time, the poor sod. I just need to make sure no more of my files start corrupting of their own accord (redrawing commission pieces isn't too fun).
So I hadn't planned on it, but I've had to offer up a good chunk of my savings in hopes I'll be able to work (and game in the downtime, admittedly) in relative safety. I spent a long time researching and picking out some awesome components to build up an excellent little desktop. I'm still swimming in the guilt of such a large purchase though... This means I won't be able to move any time soon...
Good thing is, I ought to be able to start live streaming commission work on twitch again with this beautiful new PC. It's slightly terrifying but I do love to stream when I can. The new rig should get here in a few days. I wanna make it worth the money. I'm gonna treat her right <3
The Huion tablet monitor I've been using for ten months is still going strong, barring a few niggling problems. The pen won't hold its charge more than a couple of days, there are a couple of dead pixels around the edges, but the floaty distance between the pen nib and the screen cursor is the worst issue, calibrating just doesn't fix it.
I slightly wish I'd have just caved to the idea of getting the more expensive Cintiq at the time, but it's not a huge deal. Just wanted to mention it here in case there are any tablet users out there considering which to get, and I've had a few now! Wacom is definitely the way to go for quality and longevity, despite the price tag.
Thought Bubble is right around the corner now, just a few months away. It's sort of become my big annual event, even though I don't have my own table. It's more about meeting friends who I don't get to see for a year at a time, and getting to see what my favourite creators are up to.
Last year I got to meet the writer for Rat Queens (who went on to praise my dumb lil webcomic afterwards, whoa!!) and this year I should be able to say hi to one of the artists who worked on it. I can't wait to thank her for all the fun I've had.
I wonder if I'll ever be able to summon up the courage to wear my cosplay to one of these things..
Eevee the kitten has grown into a magnificent floofy cat now. She has this fantastic new habit of diving in open clothes drawers and dragging out socks and underwear, then ragging them around before bringing them downstairs and presenting them to anyone there with a mighty yowl. Cats are something else :0
